Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool suffered their second Premier League defeat this season on Monday, January 4, when they lost against Southampton in tough encounter.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were not in their best in this encounter as the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino failed to rescued Liverpool in this duel.

Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold also had bad day in office against Southampton as the England international gave the ball away 38 times before he was substituted in the 77th minute.

According to the report on Daily Mail, Alexander-Arnold has set an unwanted record this term as no player has given the ball away more than 38 times in the English topflight.

Interestingly, the 22-year-old also holds the record for the most possession giveaways in Premier League history with 49 against Leicester City last term.

Southampton started the Premier League encounter against Liverpool on an impressive note as it took them only two minutes to scored through Danny Ings who was assisted by James Ward-Prowse.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson tried his best to save the ball, but the Brazilian was unable to prevent his side from conceding.

Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott could have scored the second goal for Southampton, but his shot was parried away by goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Klopp and his men are still topping the Premier League table with 33 points after 17 games and Manchester United now have the chance to go top of the table if they should win next tie.
