Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has vowed to ensure that the killers of Senator Gabriel Suswam’s elder brother are arrested and brought to justice.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, on Wednesday, March 3, and seen by Legit.ng, the governor said the killers would not go unpunished.

He said:

“The killers of Chief Terkura Suswam, elder brother to the senator representing Benue North East, Senator Gabriel Suswam, must be apprehended and brought to justice.

“The governor said his administration will give security operatives maximum support to ensure that killers of Suswam are arrested and made to face the consequences of their action.

“Gov. Ortom stresses that his administration will not surrender Benue to criminals, and gives assurance that killers and kidnapers operating in Sankera axis of the state won’t go unpunished.”

The statement further said that the governor assured security operatives in the state of maximum support to apprehend the killers and ensure that justice was served.

It also said that the governor sympathised with Suswam and the rest of the family, as well as the entire people of Logo local government Area over the painful death of their son.

He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the strength to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Terkula, an elder brother of former governor Suswam was assassinated.

It was reported that Terkula was killed by unknown gunmen on the night of Tuesday, March 2, between 7-8 pm at a petrol station in the country home in Anyiin, Logo local government area in of the state.

He was reportedly assassinated alongside his aide in a building directly opposite his private residence in the town.

The killers who were said to have arrived in a Toyota Corolla reportedly opened fire on both men and ensured they were dead before they speed off.

An eyewitness said that the brother of the former governor attempted to run away but was gunned down before he could escape.
