Trent Alexander-Arnold’s poor performances in recent matches have set an unwanted record in the Premier League after the English champions were shocked by Burnley at Anfield, Sport Bible.

The England defender struggled in most parts of the game as the Reds surrendered to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Clarets.

Arnold made 18 crosses from open play with a zero per cent success rate and it did not locate any of his teammates.

According to Squawka, the 22-year-old has now become the only player in the English topflight division in the last five seasons to fail to reach a teammate in 12 attempts in a match.

The right-back gave the ball away 38 times against Southampton and lost possession 39 times which was a Premier League record at the time.

Liverpool fans were critical of Arnold’s performance against Sean Dyche’s side that saw them lose their first home game in three years.

One fan said:

“If ever one moment summed up the form of a player, it was Trent’s pass into touch in stoppage time, under no pressure at all.

“This is the worst he has ever played by a considerable distance – confidence and fitness levels look completely shot.”

A second said:

This is the stunning statement Klopp made about Solskjaer after Liverpool’s draw with Man United

“Think there’s too much pressure on Trent to be the only creative outlet atm and it’s showing.”

A third added:

“Genuinely think that Trent performance is one of the worst I’ve ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. Would have rather had Johnny Vegas on the pitch.”

A fourth said:

“Mate, I’ve been his biggest defender but Trent Alexander-Arnold looks horrific and has for a while. He needs a break. Geezers been at it from such a young age. Give him a rest, he’s in woeful form. Never seen so many poor crosses and miss-placed passes.”
