Following the incessant kidnappings and killings in some parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, January 8, gave a timeline to end the war against Boko Haram and bandits in Nigeria.

1. He said he is not happy about the killings happening in the country, adding that it would soon be over.

2. The president said that the nation would continue to remember the heroic duties of members of the Armed Forces.

3. Buhari noted that the security apparatus would be strengthened to enable them to overpower the insurgents.

Meanwhile, had previously reported that Geidam town in Yobe state was attacked by men suspected to be Boko Haram members with the community’s district head whisked away by the insurgents.

It was reported that the Boko Haram terrorists invaded the community on Wednesday, January 6, and started shooting sporadically, causing pandemonium.

A witness told the publication that shops and stores in the town were broken into with food items and other provisions stocked looted before they were set ablaze.

Mulima Mato, a former chairman of the local government, also saw his house set ablaze by the assaulters who also injured some residents of the community before they left on their motorcycles.

In another report, suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Geidam, a town in Yobe state. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening, January 5, at about 6:30 p.m with the terrorists shooting.

The incident was said to have forced residents to panic and flee into the bush while others hid in their houses for safety.
