Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl was on Monday, December 4, overwhelmed with emotion after his side dealt Liverpool a huge blow with a narrow 1-0 win at Saint Marys’.

Moments after the final whistle Ralph Hasenhuttl went on his knees in tears at winning against someone he considers a role model in Jurgen Klopp.

A clever chip from Danny Ings as early as the second minute of the game proved to be the decisive moment as some heroic Southampton defending coupled with lackluster performances from the Reds at times ensured all three points went to the hosts.

The Southampton boss has been likened to Klopp in many ways, one of them being his eccentric style of playing and sometimes his uncanny resemblance to the Liverpool boss in his way of dressing.

On Monday, both managers wore hats and jackets and it was somewhat difficult to tell them apart.

Speaking on his actions after the game, a clearly embarrassed Hasenhuttl blamed down the incident as he claimed it was the cold wind which made his eyes look like he was crying but we’re not sure anyone will believe him.

He told BBC Sport:

“There were tears in my eyes – because of the wind!

“When you see our guys fighting with everything they have it makes me really proud. You need to have the perfect game against Liverpool and I think we did that.”

The win against Liverpool was significant for two reasons: it blew the title race wider open, and it also meant Southampton were more than just a team in form.

As it stands, Southampton are sixth on the log with 29 points, only six off the top and three away from third-placed Leicester.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said:

“Our decision making was poor”

Speaking on his side’s performance after the game, the manager admitted responsibility as he said his side were going through a “rough patch”.

Liverpool have failed to win their last three Premier League games since they thrashed Crystal Palace 7-0 on December 19.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United summer signing, Amad Diallo, who is expected to complete his switch to the Premier League club has hinted he is already heading to the Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old Ivorian has posted a picture of himself on a plane as he looks to be heading to England to complete his switch, SunSports claim.

It comes after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he expected the January signing to link up with his new team-mates ‘very soon.
